The RA5100 is here
Racal Acoustics launches new tactical headset. The RA5100 is an extremely versatile headset for both in-vehicle and on-foot missions designed to cater for all types of hearing protection scenarios.
2020'S
INVISIO Acquires Racal
Racal Acoustics is acquired by INVISIO, a global market leader within advanced communication and hearing protection systems. The two world class experts join forces to develop industry-leading hearing protection and communication solutions.
2010
RA4000 MAGNA™
RA4000 is built on a fully digital architecture, using advanced digital signal processing (DSP) and a software defined feature-set to deliver high levels of performance for demanding applications.
2010
Queen’s Award
In 2010, Racal was honoured with a Queen’s Award for ‘Enterprise – International Trade’ after increasing overseas revenues by 124% in three years.
2009
In-The-Ear Headset
The Frontier product range, with custom ear mould ear plugs, was developed and deployed in 2009 in super-quick time to provide the UK MoD with Personal Hearing Protection.
2000's
Raptor Headset
Raptors are in wide use with the US Department of Defense and the US Marine Corps, providing communications, hearing protection and audio situational awareness for dismounted infantry and in transit vehicles.
1990's
Harrow Relocation
Racal’s UK facility moved to larger premises at its current site in Harrow during the 1990s, merging its two facilities from the nearby towns of Watford and Wembley.
1980's
Active Noise Reduction (ANR)
During the 1980s Racal pioneered early development in Active Noise Reduction (ANR). ANR cancels unwanted noise signals by superimposing an identical signal in antiphase, thereby significantly reducing noise levels at the ear.
1960's
Clansman Headset
The Clansman headset was developed in the 1960s for use in armoured vehicles and came complete with a Press-To-Talk (PTT) switch.
1950's
Larkspur Headset
The Larkspur headset was developed for use by infantry soldiers and remained the communications standard for the British Army through to the 1960s when it was replaced by Clansman.
1950
Racal Formation
Racal was formed in 1950 by Raymond Brown and George ‘Jock’ Calder Cunningham. The focus of the company was on high frequency radio communication equipment.
1911
S G Brown
In 1911 S.G. Brown, as the company was then known, pioneered electro-acoustic technology by manufacturing the Type ‘A’ reed headphone which became famous throughout the world.
